Specialized child care
With us, as a child and young person, you will be
truly seen and heard.
Welcome to KinderThuisZorg where all care is focused on children and adolescents.
Welcome to KinderThuisZorg, the specialist in pediatric home-based nursing care. We are here to support children, parents and pediatricians with a variety of care needs. Whether it's tube feeding, IV therapy, chemotherapy, injections or wound care, our dedicated pediatric home care teams are always ready! We understand that caring for children is sometimes complex and has a significant impact on the family. That's why we offer the opportunity to continue that care at home, in a familiar and safe environment. Our motto is, "In the hospital if you have to, at home if you can."
A piece of our offerings in healthcare
Below is an overview of what we do. We always offer customized care. But we like to look together at what exactly is needed for the child. If you have questions or specific needs, please feel free to contact us. Together we can often find more possibilities in child care than you think.
Peace of mind for parents, children and pediatricians
For parents, this means peace of mind and security. Your child receives the best care, simply at home, at school or at a vacation address. For the children, we make it as comfortable as possible, because we understand that sometimes it can be exciting. And for pediatricians, it's nice to know that care continues smoothly and professionally at home. We offer a wide range of pediatric care, from ventilation and tracheal cannula care to catheterization and comfort care. Because every child is unique, we always provide customized care.
Inventory of care
It can sometimes be difficult to know exactly what care a child needs and under what legislation it falls. Fortunately, an inventory can help clarify this. In the Netherlands, the pediatric nurse of KinderThuisZorg is authorized to make the indication for care and assistance needs at home. This is done following the Handreiking Indicatieproces Kindzorg (HIK), a guideline specifically for pediatric nurses, which ensures a clear and structured approach.
This involves looking at the four child life domains: medical, social, development and safety in relation to independence. The pediatric nurse works closely with the child, parents and, when necessary, contacts the transfer nurse, pediatrician and other involved (healthcare) professionals to discuss ambiguities. In this way, they ensure that a complete picture of the care needs is created.
Learning pathways for greater independence
At KinderThuisZorg, the self-direction of the child and family is paramount and the ultimate goal is for the child to be able to move on without help. After all, this means more freedom for both the child and the parents.
Although our pediatric nurses are happy to come to the family's home to help, it is of course best if their help is no longer needed in the long run. When the child and parents are ready, our pediatric nurses can work with them to start a learning process. This roadmap is specially designed to teach the child and/or their parents, step by step, to perform the necessary medical procedures themselves. This can be exciting, but the nurses are there to support and coach during this process.
For parents, this means that their child grows safely toward greater independence, with the assurance that expert guidance will always be available. Transfer nurses and pediatricians can be confident that care is carefully transferred and family supervision is accurate. Even when parents and child can provide independent child care, the pediatric nurse remains preventively involved to fall back on when needed.
