"Turnaround: from a family with one to four children. With KinderThuisZorg going home earlier."
"It was very nice to always be able to fall back on KinderThuisZorg when needed.
'Coming home, being reunited with all of us, that was fantastic. In all the hospitals there was nice contact, but there is also constantly someone with a different opinion. At a certain point you just want to take care of your child alone and be together.' Mandy Pronk from Halsteren looks back on the first intensive period after the birth of triplets Manoah, Tobias and Lydia. Thanks to KinderThuisZorg, they were able to leave the hospital earlier.
Right at the beginning of the pregnancy I was very nauseous. Even then I had a premonition: could it be two...? Mandy (28) and her partner Arie (30) think the idea of twins fits the family with 3-year-old son Ezra. Their intuition turns out to be - almost - right: Mandy carries not two, but three children in her belly. "All at once our whole world was turned upside down.
Thanks to her work as a psychologist in the Neonatology and Obstetrics Department at the Albert Schweitzer Hospital in Dordrecht, Mandy is well aware of all the risks, such as preterm birth. From the very beginning, she and her partner take charge. This way, Mandy hopes for a natural birth until the last moment. At the Erasmus Medical Center, where Mandy is under medical supervision, about three to four triplets are born each year. "About 20 percent of those are three-egg, each with its own amniotic sac, like our children. That's so few, so then you have to invent the wheel yourself.'
